2. Background & Founding Mandate

UDAYAN Bangladesh is a prominent grassroots non-governmental development organization established on 12 February 2000 with the initiative of seasoned coastal development workers. Headquartered in Bagerhat District in the disaster-vulnerable southwest coastal belt, UDAYAN was created to address severe poverty, cyclone vulnerabilities, water scarcity, and marginalized community disenfranchisement.

The governance framework comprises a 21-member General Committee representing civil society, educators, and social leaders, and an Executive Committee of 05 members elected for a two-year statutory term to provide executive oversight.
